2、为什么航母底下那么窄而上面那么宽却不会侧翻？

首先航母在设计中，对于航母的重心有很好的把握，上层部分的外飘看着大，但是大都是空心的外飘箱式结构，而下面看似很窄，但是里面容纳了航母的动力轴系和发动机、锅炉等重量很大的设备，确保了航母始终是重心非常稳定的状态。

再者说，航母的下面也不见得就比飞行甲板的外飘窄很多，从船头看当然窄了很多，因为船头是尖尖的，要劈开水的阻力的，但是航母的腰线处和船尾处一般宽度就不小了，不分外飘不大的轻型航母甚至在船腰部分达到了舰体和外飘甲板一样宽的程度。比如英国海军的无敌级航母、苏联海军的基辅级航母等。

而像美国那种大型航母，即便是外飘部分很大的，其船体在中部和尾部也已经非常宽了，最宽的比值为40米宽的舰体和70米宽的外飘，两边各多出20米。这20米的箱体结构内几乎是空心的，没有任何设备，被命中后就是一个大窟窿，但是其舰体部分却是大量的水密隔舱构成，而且内部有大量的动力设备和燃料物资，船体重心向下。
